Virtually everything on modern vehicles has some sort of computer/electronics involvement.  Riverside Automotive has the equipment and a technician on staff with the training and certifications to solve even the most complex issues.  We also can program, code, initialize and set up modules, program or learn keys not only for keyless entry but also for immobilizer on most makes and models of vehicles.

Riverside Automotive has the same tools and diagnostic equipment that the dealer uses and in many cases MORE.

DEALER LEVEL DIAGNOSTICS

 

Riverside Automotive is equipped with the same scan tools for many different vehicle manufacturers.  We have dealer-level equipment for:  Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Corvette, Dodge, Ford, GM, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercury, Mini, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Ram, Saab, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

We can do many functions on Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Bentley, Fiat, Land Rover, Lotus, MG, Maserati, Mercedes Benz, Renault, Rivian, Smart, Sprinter, Tesla, and Triumph.

Because of these investments, we can program modules (upload new or updated firmware), learn key fobs for keyless entry, learn keys to the vehicle for immobilizer (anti-theft), and many,  many more tasks often deemed "dealer only".

MECHANICAL PROBLEMS
 

Many driveability (how the engine runs) problems stem from mechanical failure within the engine or transmission.  Sometimes these problems can be difficult to pin down due to the complex electronics now common on most modern vehicles.  Riverside Automotive is equipped to determine such issues thus saving you money by reducing misdiagnosis.

ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
 

As mentioned at the top of the page, there are precious few systems on a vehicle that don't have some sort of electrical or electronic involvement.  Even wheels have sensors mounted in them to monitor tire pressure (mandated in 2008).  Riverside Automotive has the tooling to trace down electrical and electronic faults and save you money by only replacing what is needed.  Too often multiple parts are replaced due to a "snowball" effect that may not technically have occurred.  On the flip-side, in some cases, not enough parts were replaced to fully solve the issue and prevent recurrence.  There are definitely scenarios where components wreck, or hurt, other components and a complete and proper repair is to replace them.  This saves you money by preventing rechecks and lost time.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

 

Now called Malfunction Indicators Lamp, or MIL, this lamp is illuminated whenever the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) determines that the exhaust is emitting pollution that is 1.5 times higher than the level mandated by the EPA.
